Public education has become an increasingly important part of the work of Catherine House for both the Director and other staff.

Since climbing to Mt. Everest Base Camp in March 2004 the Director Madge McGuire has been in demand as a speaker at various corporate and community events. Interested groups have been keen to hear about her Mt. Everest Adventure and the work of Catherine House.

People who have listened to Madge speak have enjoyed the fun and challenging aspects of her journey to Mt Everest. At the same time, they have been moved to hear about the stories of the women who have come to Catherine House, and in that have been able to understand more about the real reasons why women become homeless.
